As an independent initiative, the cultural initiative SOMALGORS74 in Tschlin (CH) is engaged in processes of collective creation. SOMALGORS74 was initiated and founded by the artist Curdin Tones in 2017. Defining his artistic practice more as an integral part of the societies in which Tones is living and working, as practitioner he felt the need to take his place in the social network of the village of Tschlin and initiate projects.
Working from an artistic position that asks, who the others are that co-constitute what is meaningful, the projects are informed and executed by mechanisms of co-creation. All the activities aim at addressing contents, which have a specific reference to the village, its environment, its past and future. In order to inscribing these projects meaningfully in their local contexts and societies, both art and design strategies are used. Current projects involve a temporary public wellness bath in the village’s fountain, the application Fatschadas for augmented reality Sgrafitto viewing, the Archive of Alpine Olfactory Memories and the Library of Hidden Colors.
